I entitled this entry of mine today as Amitraz because this medicine or solution almost paralyzed my dog. No one should be blamed though.
While i was on duty, i asked one of my friend if what is the best solution or shampoo in getting rid of fleas, mice and ticks in my cute dogs skin. She told me that amitraz is one of the best solution that can be used for getting rid of the pests.
When i drove home, i change my clothes and bought some amitraz in Bacolod Animal Hospital in Shopping center (used to be China town or until now i guess). I bought this 15 ml amitraz solution for almost Php 80.00 and there was just a simple instruction in the brown bottle that "dilute 5ml of solution in 1 L water".
After our groceries and dinner in Panaad Park, since it was Panaad sa Negros Week, i hurriedly changed my clothes and then wore some gloves, prepare a 10 ml syringed which unfortunately pricked my thumb and it really bleed. After preparing all the necessary equipments (as if i will have an operation procedure). I called Natasha and with some hesitation to come over me, so i decided to picked her up and then i started applying the solution with my own calculation for 40-50ml of water with 2.5 ml of amitraz. Everything turned out to be okay, so i applied same solution to Prince and little Raffy.
After an hour Natasha opened our door and went to an occupied room which was my room before but nobody sleeps in there anymore, and when i picked her up and put her back outside our door, she was not able to stand up anymore. I was shocked, thinking that my dog will die, so i rushed to my computer and probed for possible side effects of amitraz and i found out that i can cause sedation in dogs and poisoning in cats. At the same time, i found out that i miscalculated the dose, suposedly it should be 0.25 ml of amitraz to 50 ml of water. The solution was really strong that cuased my dog to be groggy for that night.
The following day, i tried to observed my dogs, they are all groggy, and my Natasha was not able to walked straight, and she would always cry and then well have a sudden syncope and stay in the floor for more than 1 minute and thinking that she would really die. I tried to prepare myself that i should accept the fact that she will die, but i also put in my mind that sedation will take 72 hours, so there will be Saturday for the final implication if my cute dog will really die.
It was Saturday, we left Bacolod city, for our family reunion of my mother's side which was Gayares and Gepule. My grandmom was used to be Rufina Gayares, before she got married to my granddad Lumauag. After a day of reunion we went home, and i found out that Natasha was back again to normal activities, so i was so happy.
My dogs were all alive. Weeeeeeeee
