It was my night shift. I have three patients and one patient had this every 15 minutes vital signs to be checked for 8 hours, while the other two were just for monitoring and IVF regulation.
My patient had this Blood transfusion at 2.30 am. It was around 6 am when one of the doctor visited his patient and there was a stat injection of insulin Humulin-R 4 units SQ, where we did not gave before because the patient does not have any folks with him and no meal available in his bedside, but then when the doctor had his rounds, he told us to give the insulin, so i hurriedly went beside the fridge where the insulin was and then when i opened the insulin syringe that was use to him before, i accidentally pricked my left middle finger, and i did not tell anyone, i just kept it to myself. I was stressful at that time, but luckily the patient was only admitted because he had increased blood sugar and no other diseases. I was lucky that the patient has no any hepatitis problem or worst AIDS.
Anyway, lesson learned that, always use new syringe, so that when you are pricked, you have nothing to worry.
